Bill Holmes Sculpture I was born a sculptor. I just didn't know it until I was 56.
I had been intuitively attracted to sculpture since seeing the Pieta while in college but had no idea I could do it. Finally, in 2001 I enrolled in a ceramics class. Everyone else made a bowl. I made a head. It was good. I was amazed. With no background in art, I discovered a hidden talent that has changed my life.
Since that first head, I have made scores of portraits and busts. Every time I see a person, their character and emotion emerge from the clay in my hands, I am amazed that I could have done it.
What started out as a hobby has turned into a passion and another career.
