Fall 2022 Art safari at Crucible Glassworks

Fall Art Safari is our favorite at the Glass Studio. Naturally, blowing glass involves temperatures between 900-2000 to melt, heat, and shape glass, so we appreciate the cooler temperatures Fall brings more than most! Come get “Blown Away” by artist Mike Hatch ofCrucible Glassworks!

This Safari we will be doing glassblowing demonstrations “on the hour” both Saturday and Sunday starting around 11am. Glassblowing is a very quick craft, as the moment a gather is drawn from the crucible, it starts to cool and resist . By re-heating and torching the glass, the artist is able to soften and continue manipulating the glass into a shape. After a piece is made, it is put into a large box annealer, that enables the glass to cool to room temperature overnight. Pieces made in Saturday’s demos will be available Sunday morning. Sunday we will do a “glass candy cane pull” to demonstrate how our Holiday canes are made.

We also will have our seasonal Glass Pumpkin patch set up, as well as a Christmas corner full of our glass ornaments, candy canes, and other Holiday decorations, for those of you who want to jump-start their Holiday shopping locally.
