MEMBER ELIGIBILITY and JURYING
The Weaverville Art Safari appreciates the diversity of human beings and does not discriminate based on race, age, religion, ability, marital status, sexual orientation, sex or gender identity.
If you are a Weaverville area resident artist and would like to become a member of the Weaverville Art Safari, you must apply to have your artwork juried into the organization.
- Artists must reside within the Weaverville Art Safari established geographical boundaries. Click here to see boundaries. If accepted as a member, the artist must display their artwork within this same geographical area.
- Categories of artwork/craft for consideration for Art Safari include Ceramics & Pottery, Fiber, Fine Art, Glass, Mixed Media, Metals, Photography, and Woodworking.
- The applying artist must demonstrate a proficient mastery of their chosen craft/art and an ability to explain their process to studio visitors. Work must be 90% handmade and reflet a high level of craftsmanship. The exceptions being in the Fine Art Category where printed series, giclee and photography reprints are permitted. - All artwork exhibited for the Art Safari Tour (in the Tour brochure, on the Art Safari website or artwork displayed on the Tour) must belong to the Member artist.
- Artists must be willing to participate on one or more Art Safari committees for each participating Tour.
THE JURY APPLICATION PROCESS
The artist application will be evaluated by a seven-member jury committee based on the submission of the following images/information.
- 5 pieces of artwork.*
Artwork/craft will be judged based upon the following criteria:
– Artistic creativity
– Ability to handle materials
– Degree of difficulty and complexity
– Effective use of artist elements and principles
– Presentation - Artist statement up to 350 words in length.

Recent shows/galleries/exhibitions
*The quality of the artwork images is most important. Special care should be taken to make them as professional as possible. Should you have questions, please email [email protected] prior to submitting your application.
After the application process is closed, the jury committee will evaluate the applications. Artists will receive an email of acceptance or rejection. If approved, an artist will receive instructions as to how to register for Tour as well as exhibition site instructions. Once approved, artists are eligible to register for future tours. If rejected, and artist may apply for membership in the future.
